Low Calorie High Protein Food

Knowing what to eat can be difficult.

Especially if we have a daily protein goal.

When we add in daily caloric intake, it gets even harder to stay within our daily numbers.

This is why at Best Life Fitness we have started what we call “weekly snackles”.

These snackles are a quick nutrition lesson to help our members understand how to better approach their nutrition.

Recently our snackle was how to identify low calorie high protein foods.

There are a ton of foods that we know for sure to be a higher protein source.

Beef and chicken may be number one on the list for foods that come to mind.

There are foods that are protein sources, but they are not a lower calorie protein.

Peanuts, peanut butter, and beans are top examples of this.

This is where that recent snackle comes to the rescue.

The weekly snackle taught our members how to identify low calorie high protein foods.

Guess what.

It is super easy and something that you can start doing today, and I am going to teach it to you right now.

What you need to do is look at the nutrition label and add a zero to the grams of protein. Then compare that number to the calories in the food. If the protein is more than the calories, you have yourself a higher protein item.

An example of this is from a protein powder

Calories=130

Protein=23

Add a zero to the protein=230

230 is higher than 130=low calorie high protein source.

If you are looking for high protein sources to help reach a daily intake. This will greatly help you reach your goal.

Now let’s look at another example, this is from a protein bar.

Calories=170

Protein=10

Add a zero to the protein=100

100 is less than 170=high calorie lower protein source

Before you choose to not eat an item like this, I want you to understand.

This bar has protein in it.

Yes, you can enjoy this food.

The protein will help you reach your protein goals. It’s just not what we would call a low-calorie high source of protein.

So, if you are looking for higher sources of protein this might not be ideal for what you are looking for.

Why would you want to know this?

If you have daily protein and calories you are trying to hit, this can help you from overeating.

It is really easy to identify low calorie high sources of protein. Some sources might not be what we think. This does not mean that they will not help you with your daily protein goals. If you have a calorie goal you are trying to hit, knowing how to identify high protein sources is extremely valuable. This will help you stay within those goals.

If you need help figuring out if something is a low-calorie high protein food just message us, and we will help you out.
